A locked house, located in the Garhi Cantt police station area, was burgled by unidentified thieves late in the Sunday night.

Police have been deployed at different places to nab the accused, said a police officer. Premnagar Chowki in-charge Vikas Rawat said that in his complaint, Raghav Vihar resident Surendra Singh Bisht said that he along with his family members had gone to a relative’s home in Punjab on April 24.

When he returned on Monday, he found cash Rs 10,000, lCD TV, laptop and other costly commodities missing from his home. Based on his compliant, an FIR has been lodged under sections 454 and 380 of the IPC against unidentified persons, said Rawat.

According to Rawat, burglarise of his house could be prevented if he informed the police about leaving the city for some days. Dehradun SSP Kewal Khurana had recently established anti-theft cell at his office. People were appealed to inform the police if they leave the city for some days. After receiving their report in the cell, police would carry-out inspections to their home on regular intervals to avoid such incidents.

According to Cell official, only 31 persons had reported so far about their outstation trip even though three months have been passed since cell came into power.
