Following up on his earlier inspection, the State Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik visited the inter-state bus terminus and issued instructions to officials to clearing the path for traffic from the ISBT to Clock Tower in the first phase.
The Minister inspected the said stretch of the road with the District Magistrate SA Murugeshan, Senior Superintendent of Police Sweety Agarwal and officials of other departments concerned for facilitating smooth flow of traffic and removal of roadside encroachments.
The Minister conducted an inspection along with officials while moving in a rickshaw. He directed the officials accompanying him that in the first phase, all the roadside encroachments will be removed from along the main road from the ISBT to the Clock Tower.
The department concerned with any relevant issue or with an issue to be acted upon will start taking the necessary action from Monday. The Minister directed the District Magistrate that he should issue necessary instructions to officials of the departments concerned required to work on any issue or procedure while also ensuring that there is no negligence in this task.
If any necessary action is not executed within the set time limit, action will be taken against the department, the minister warned. Kaushik further stressed that if the required action is not taken within the period of one week upon the instructions issued by him during his inspection, then action will be taken against the official concerned.
Further, at any time within a fortnight, he along with the district magistrate and the senior superintendent would conduct a surprise inspection during which the minister said that he expects the said work to be visible on the ground.
Noticing a transformer lying open near a private school at ISBT-Shimla bye-pass and the hazard of mishap posed by it, the minister directed the electricity department officials to get fencing erected around the said transformer. Addressing officials of the National Highways Authority, the minister said that the roadside drains along the road from the ISBT to the vegetable market in Niranjanpur should be covered with slabs. Stating that chambers constructed at various spots on the roads are at a lower level which also increases the risk of mishap, which should be redressed by doing the required leveling work. Expressing dissatisfaction on seeing garbage dumped in roadside drains, the minister directed the municipal commissioner to depute as many personnel as required to ensure cleaning of these drains from Monday.
He also directed the municipal corporation to remove the sewer line pipes kept by the Asian Development Bank unit on the roadside at Majra. The money spent on the clearing the pipes from the place will be charged from the ADB, added the minister.
