RMSA agitators climb down as CM assures of quick action

Ending 129-hours long drama the four members of the association of contractual workers of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) descended from the overhead water tank on Wednesday. Interestingly, after the tough stance of the State Government on the agitators employing pressure on it by climbing the water tanks, the RMSA workers retracted from their earlier stand.

The Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister, Anand Bahuguna arrived at the site of the agitation in the afternoon and after his pep talk the agitators asked their four members to come down from the overhead water tank.

The Spokesperson of the association Vipin Rawat said that the OSD of CM has assured them that their demands would be soon accepted. He said that though those stationed atop the tank have descended the association would continue with its Dharna at protest site at old Raipur bus stand.

The services of 1831 RMSA workers were terminated in the  month of march this year after the union government stopped funding their salaries. Following a long agitation the   education department renewed the contract of 1201 workers who were deployed under Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam limited (UPNl) but left out remaining 628 those who were employed under HIlTRON. These left out candidates are on path of agitation now.

It is worth mentioning here that the state government toughened its stand on the water tank pressure tactics after many social organisation have questioned its stand on the issue. The state human rights commission too asked the state government to ensure that drinking water tanks are not used as a protest spot for public safety.

On Tuesdaythe agitating Malaria Protection workers stationed atop the overhead water tank on EC roads come down without any written order from government just like what the RMSA workers  did a day later.
