Pension and other facilities not being provided to the retired employees of the irrigation department in Uttarakhand despite orders on two occasions by the Supreme Court and directions of the high court, is a matter of shame for the Government, said the Jan Sangharsh Morcha head Raghunath Singh Negi.
He said that the Jan Sangharsh Morcha will be forced to undertake a protest fast-unto-death against the continued apathy towards the implementation of court orders on this issue.
Negi said, “For many days now, the Jan Sangharsh Morcha has been seeking an appointment with the governor of the state regarding the observance of the orders of the supreme court and high court.
However, the Raj Bhawan doesn’t seem to have time to meet us regarding the issues of the employees or the public. The situation is such that even after work charge service for thirty to forty years, the irrigation employee does not become eligible for pension while on the other hand those like an MlA become eligible for life-long pension on taking oath of office.
To protest against the apathy of the Raj Bhawan towards the implementation of the supreme court orders in the pension case, the Jan Sangharsh Morcha will undertake a protest fast unto death,” warned Negi.
