Dissatisfaction is growing among the locals who allege that a person “incapable” of the post has been appointed to the post of the officiating registrar of the GB Pant Engineering college, Ghurdauri (Pauri). Recently, a group of locals and political representatives submitted a memorandum to the Pauri district magistrate Sushil Kumar demanding that Sandeep Kumar be removed from the post of the officiating registrar of the college.
Recently, the Garhwal MP’s representative Matbar Singh Negi, former district head of Bharatiya Janata Party Mahabir Singh Negi and others submitted a memorandum to district magistrate and alleged that Sandeep Kumar has remained controversial and is not
capable of holding the post of placement officer due to his academic qualification.
Further alleging that he was also involved in corruption, they demanded that an inquiry be conducted against him. In response, the district magistrate Sushil Kumar sent a communication to the principal of Ghurdauri engineering
college asking him to submit a report to district magistrate after conducting an enquiry of
the allegations leveled at
Sandeep Kumar.
The memorandum stated that Sandeep Kumar, who is holding the charge of officiating registrar of the institution since December 2016, had been appointed to his original post in a manner which should be subject of an inquiry. His academic qualification has also been under suspicion, they averred.
They said, “Sandeep Kumar was sacked from the charge of officiating registrar due his wrong working culture and corrupt policy on 14th December 2016 and Ashutosh Gupta was given the responsibility of officiating registrar. But due to his links with the Technical Education Minister and Principal Secretary, Sandeep Kumar succeeded in getting the charge of officiating registrar after nine days on December 23, 2016. The officiating registrar is conducting purchases worth lakhs of rupees, maintaining an indifferent attitude towards the local unemployed youth and giving the mess contract to a contractor not based locally.”
They further stated in their memorandum that the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had stated that the locals will get the tenders of contracts upto Rs. five crore in value, despite which Kumar had awarded the tender for the college mess to a non-local.
They also alleged financial irregularities amounting to crores of rupees in the purchases under the World Bank quality improvement scheme. The people of Pauri will be forced to launch an agitation if Kumar is not removed from the post of the officiating registrar and if an inquiry is not constituted on the allegations leveled at him.
The Ghurdauri engineer college principal Satya Prakash Pandey told this correspondent that he had earlier removed Sandeep Kumar from the post of officiating registrar on December 14, 2016, but on the written order of Technical Education minister Yashpal Arya, he was bound to appoint Kumar again to the post of the officiating registrar on December 23.
