Remove Guv, demands Jansangharsh Morcha head Raghunath

Alleging that public interest and corruption related issues are being treated complacently, Jansangharsh Morcha head and former vice chairman of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam, Raghunath Singh Negi has stated that taking cognisance of the situation, the Union Government should act immediately and remove the Governor of Uttarakhand from office.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, Negi said, “The Jansangharsh Morcha was consistently approaching Raj Bhawan raising corruption and public interest issues and demanding necessary action. However, the activities of Raj Bhawan remained limited mostly to cultural programmes. In the past we had sought necessary action in specific cases including illegal mining business amounting to about Rs 4,000 crore, government not paying pension allowance to retired employees despite directions of the Supreme Court and the case of connivance of industry and government authority resulting in revenue loss of Rs 280 crore for the State. However, the Raj Bhawan appeared unconcerned about these issues making it appear as if these cases had silent consent of the Raj Bhawan,” he alleged.

Negi further said, “Government officials and politicians had been looting the State during the past year and a half but the Raj Bhawan remained more of a spectator while the people of Uttarakhand underwent much distress. The democratic crisis in Uttarakhand is the result of the apathy of the Raj Bhawan with the future scenario moving towards uncertainty. If the Union Government does not replace the Uttarakhand governor soon, the Jansangharsh Morcha will be forced to take self-injurious action for which the Raj Bhawan will be responsible,” claimed Negi.
