Concerned over poor implementation of the anti- encroachment drive in the lake city, Nainital, the district administration, Nainital, has directed the officials concerned to remove encroachments from their respective areas by the deadline.

Taking this matter seriously, Akshat Gupta, District Magistrate, Nainital, said that the anti-encroachment drive has been launched in the lake city Nainital following the High Court’s direction on the matter.

Subsequently, CDO, ADM, SDM, Koshyakutoli, to name a few officials, were appointed as zonal magistrates to carry out the anti-encroachment drive there and the zonal magistrates were asked to remove encroachments from their respective areas within 15 days in cases where notices had already been given to the encroachers, added Gupta.

But disappointingly, no effective work has been done by the zonal magistrates under the anti-encroachment drive, maintained the District Magistrate Nainital.

The matter of concern is that the court has also expressed disappointment over the poor implementation of the anti-encroachment drive in the lake city. Therefore, all the zonal magistrates have been directed to remove the encroachments from their respective areas in cases where notices have already been served to the encroachers within 15 days, added the Nainital District Magistrate.
