A large number of devotees participated in the lord Jagannath Rathyatra (cart festival) held with religious fervour at Deeplok Colony in Dehradun on Sunday. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat swept the road by way of the ceremonial rituals before the chariot started its yatra. The yatra was organised under the aegis of Shri Ram Mandir Samiti and Jagannath Sri Gunidcha Rath Yatra Aayojan Samiti.
The idols of lord Jagannath, lord Baldey and Devi Subhadra were placed on a beautifully decorated chariot.
Despite the city traffic police having chalked out a traffic diversion plan for the smooth flow of traffic in view of lord Jagannath Rathyatra, traffic jams were witnessed at many places in the city.
The rath yatra started from Deeplok Colony and passed through various places – Saiyad Mohalla, Bindal Bridge, Cannaught Place, Clock Tower, Paltan Bazar, Kotwali, Dhama wala, Hamuman Mandir Chowk, Shakumbhari Mandir, Sai Mandir, Tilak Road and Tulsi Road. The yatra ended at Ram Mandir Deep lok.
