Former Bharatiya Janata Party MlA Mahendra Bhatt has lambasted the State Government alleging that relief work in disaster affected areas is being conducted as if mainly to fulfil an official formality. The routes to these remote villages are still blocked and the water supply is yet to be restored, due to which the villagers are now facing the possibility of their rations running out in the coming days, he averred. Bhatt also leveled an allegation at the Badrinath MlA Rajendra Bhandari averring that the MlA has a “share” in all the stone crushers operating in the Chamoli District.
Addressing media persons at a Press conference held here, the former MlA alleged that the state government was not serious towards the condition of disaster and the disaster affected public. He said, “Chief minister Harish Rawat is visiting disaster affected areas as if to fulfill official formality while not a single state minister concerned has visit these disaster affected areas to address the problems being faced. Water supply has not been restored yet to such disaster affected areas where the road connectivity has not been facilitated. Such is the condition that residents of such areas may face problems due to shortage of ration at a time when the affected villagers do not have convenient access to medical treatment service.”
Bhatt went on to accuse the Badrinath MlA Rajendra Bhandari of having share in the earnings of all stone crushers operating the district. He alleged anomalies in the facilitation of Nanda Devi Raj Jat also averring that there were irregularities in the utilization of MlA fund as in the task of distributing utensils, mats and furniture at the village level.
