Relief for Sidhu as UHRC withdraws probe into plaint

Published on:

State DGP BS Sidhu got some relief after Uttarakhand Human Rights Commission withdrew its order for an inquiry over human right complaint of suspended sub-inspector Nirvikar Singh against him (DGP Sidhu) on Thursday.

Sidhu had presented his position before the commission stating that the Uttarakhand High Court had already rejected the petition of the complainant over same inquiry.

The commission had earlier directed the State Government to conduct an inquiry over the same issue and had formed an inquiry committee led by additional chief secretary S Ramaswami.

The suspended sub-inspector had presented his case before the commission stating that his complaint against State DGP Sidhu was pending before the State administration.

A case under section 3 of Police (Incitement to Disaffection) Act, 1922 was registered in Kotwali police station against sub-inspector Nirvikar, who was suspended on May 20, 2014 for addressing a Press conference on May 18 wherein he accused the State DGP of attempting to influence the inquiry into the alleged anomalies in purchase of a forest land by Sidhu.
