Reinstated constables to undergo training from Oct 8

The constables, whose applications were earlier rejected on being submitted from two different districts and whom the State Government recently reinstated, will undergo training programme beginning from October 8. The State police department has decided to host such training programme at IRB-I, Ramnagar and PTC, Narendra nagar, said Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) GS Martolia while talking to The Pioneer on Friday.

It should be mentioned here that in the constable recruitment process (2010-11), the Government had issued guidelines, directing the applicants to submit single application from one district of the State. Despite this, around 850 applicants had submitted their forms from two districts, defying the recruitment guidelines as advertised by the Government. Applications of around 425 constables who had thus defied the norms were rejected during the form application process while some were dismissed after their recruitment in the department.

DIG Martolia said, “The department would conduct one and half month- long special training at IRB-I for the constables who had completed mandatory nine months’ training while those who have not completed such training will be trained for nine months at Police Training Centre, Narendranagar.” “Around 124 policemen, including 77 Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel, 42 civil police and 23 firemen, would undergo training programme for nine months at IRB-I, Ramnagar while 54 policemen, including 22 civil policemen, 23 PAC personnel and 9 firemen, would undergo 45 days’ training at PTC, Narendra Nagar, he added.

Earlier, Pradeep Tamta, one of the policemen, whose application had been rejected in July 2012, had said, “I was recruited in 2010-11. But my candidature was rejected because I had submitted application from two districts- Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar.”

A police officer said these constables were re-appointed following medical and physical tests. The department had also conducted their police verification. Police department may soon start training programme for the constables under the category left out so far for training at the above mentioned venues in the State.
