With start of the third phase of Operation Mukti, Dehradun district police with the help of different stakeholders will be conducting a medical camp on Saturday in the Bindal slum.

The rehabilitation phase of the operation will start from Saturday which will entail connecting the identified child beggars with government aided schemes. Also, various non-governmental organisations have come forward to provide skill development assistance to the children as well.

Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police, Nivedita Kukreti said, “As we have discussed in the meeting with the stakeholders earlier, the camp is to provide common platform for all the stakeholders to distribute their responsibilities. There are some government aided schemes in which children can get sponsorship of up to Rs 5,00,000. We are doing a camp in which representatives of all the agencies concerned will be present. For example, if there is the requirement of some No Objection Certificate, Women and Child Welfare department will take care of it, NGOs who coordinate with centre will also be present.”

Kanika Sharma, a member of Aasra Trust said, “We have not been told about the camp as of now. So far, our contribution to the campaign has been to help out with the awareness campaign.

We are also providing education facilities to children who are below five years. There is a bus we have updated as an education facility- that’s where we teach them because they are not comfortable at certain centres.”
