The issue of regularisation of contractual workers of Uttarakhand Roadways would be brought before State Cabinet. The general secretary of Uttaranchal Roadways Karmchari Union (URKU), Ashok Chaudhary, told The Pioneer that State Chief Minister Harish Rawat gave these orders on the demand of the union.
He said the roadways employees were confident that the State Cabinet would take a positive decision on the important matter. The URKU is on path of agitation on the issue of regularisation of services of 1,000 bus drivers, 1,400 conductors and 500 workshop employees working on contract in the state carrier. On September 16 the union undertook a strike call which affected the services of state roadways.
