As per the data provided by the employment office Dehradun for the past five years, while the registration has decreased over the past five years, the carryforward is a still a large figure though less last year as compared to the previous years. According to the officials, though the data varies every year depending on various factors, the figure is comparatively less last year as compared to the past four years.
According to the data, the registration done in the year 2014 was nearly 36614 while the carry forward data from that year was 150815. In the year 2015, the registration was nearly 23074 and carry forward data was 16,2035. In 2016, around 21,742 was the figure of registration and 17,0919 was the carry forward figure. In 2017, the registration figure was 18,540 while the carry forward figure was 17,2136. In 2018, 16,517 were the registration figure and 12,9451 was the forwarded figure.
Another data from 2018 gives a glimpse of degree holders applying in the employment office. While 6,853 were IIT degree holders 8,975 are diploma holders, 478 were with BTC degree, 16,326 were B.ED and LT grade teachers. Women were the maximum to register in 2018 as 74,199 registrations were done by the women that year.
While 17,447 were from the people from the Scheduled Caste 1181 were from the Scheduled tribe, 18,110 were from OBC, and 1595 were specially abled people .
“We receive registration from all over the city. This is not very specific data of the unemployed but as far the as the data is concerned, the figures are like this. The data related to qualification varies. There are some PhD holders registering themselves. But most of them do not show it. It seems they too are looking for employment,” the officer added.
Ajay Singh, the regional employment officer, said, “The data of the registration and carry forward figure is less in 2018 as compared to previous years which is a good sign.
On our part, we organise an employment fair in the city which receives good response every time. Also, we hold classes during which the students get training to qualify the Government examinations free of cost. ”
