Fifteen days long annual REACH festival is going to begin on December 12. The festival, started twenty years ago, has become a part of the city’s cultural landscape and features the work of the country’s best artisans and artistes from the folk, classical and contemporary fields. Known as Afro-Asia’s largest folk-life and arts’ event, thefestival has the unique distinction of being a free to enter community initiative, run on voluntary basis, without any government support.
Over the years, thefestival has greatly impacted experiential tourism and heritage promotion in the State. The 15-day festival supports rural industries, arts, music, dance and crafts. This year, the VirasatFestival celebrates two decades of supporting rural artisans and heritage practitioners of India. Thefestival, in essence a mini- India, features star concerts, craft stalls, cuisine stalls, folk arts performances, painters’ workshop and exhibitions.
This year, the festival has special segments during the morning hours, including quizzes, heritage walks, craft workshops, treasure hunts, photography contests, sit and draw and several other activities. A Vintage Car Rally will add to the excitement.
