Dubbing the Chief minister Harish Rawat’s proposed sit-in in Delhi on January 5 as amounting to pouring scorn on the Constitution of India, Bharatiya Janata Party state chief spokesman Munna Singh Chouhan said on Monday that National Green Tribunal (NGT) had duly rejected the revised master plan, encompassing Bhagirathi Eco Sensitive Zone (ESZ), on the basis of its rejection during an inter- ministerial meeting which found the master plan not conforming to the criteria set up by the expert committee. “The proposed sit-in is meant to trash a constitutional/ judicial body, constituted by the Parliament. This is tantamount to trashing the Constitution itself,” he said, adding that the CM had better answer his questions before he embarked on what he called a ‘farce’.
Besides, Chouhan has shot off five questions to the CM, demanding answers. “The CM must explain why he had not raised hackles when the announcement of Eco Sensitive Zone (ESZ) was made at a time when he was a Union minister. Secondly, when the people’s representatives met the Union government regarding some state-specific issues did the present CM take any personal initiative to address the matter he is presently obsessed withIJ Did the revised plan that was submitted conform to the prescribed normsIJ Is his protest trained on NGT, the monitoring bodyIJ Did he convene a public meeting as was planned earlier on the matterIJ” the state BJP leader asked.
