Rawat's promises and projects are an eyewash, says Bhatt

Firing flesh salvo against Chief Minister Harish Rawat after meeting BJP national president Amit Shah in Delhi on Tuesday,   leader of  the Opposition in the State Assembly and State BJP president Ajay Bhatt said the thousands of announcements being dished out  by the verbose Chief Minister mean  nothing.

"They are mere assurances floated in the air with a motive to conjure up a dream of developmental turnaround. They mean nothing when things are viewed from the ground. A wily politician as he is, he is inclined to fling the blame for any non-implementation of the developmental assurances at the Centre for not sufficiently opening its purse strings. Does he take the Centre in confidence while rolling   out his flamboyant promisesIJ" he asked.

He commented this in reference to a statement the Chief Minister had recently made where he said that he felt sad failing to rise up to the people's developmental aspirations, given the  fund crunch the State is suffering from and the Centre depriving them of their  due.

Contradicting the Chief Minister that the State Government has kind of fund crunch deterring it from implementing the promised schemes on its own resources, Bhatt said they have earned enough by changing the State's excise policy.

"They have created  360 new political posts to bestow  on the minions. They have lent them the status  of Cabinet Ministers and Ministers of State.

"Uttarakhand can pride itself on the fact that all the MlAs of the ruling party are enjoying Cabinet Minister's status. Does it mean that they are down with scarcity of fundsIJ He cites it to cover his failure to execute the promises he himself makes to befool the people," BJP State chief said.

Further tearing into the State Government, he said the Chief Minister having made the confession that they are finding  it difficult to execute the announced developmental projects  because of the Centre  not giving  them enough funds has vindicated his party's  stance.

"It means that the projects being rolled out  are meant to be mere assurances, shorn of any possibility of on-the-ground execution. This is a diabolical game  to deceive the common people by sweeping the blame of their failure to rise up to the occasion into the backyard of the Centre.  The Chief Minister had better quit owning  responsibility for his failure to deliver  the things he has promised. This is what they must do and we would press them to do so ," Bhatt commented.
