On this eve of 69th Independence Day, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat unveiled his youth outreach initiative titled #CM4YOUTH at a special function held at the Chief Minister’s residence on

Friday evening.

Chief Minister not only will interact with the youth through regular visits to the youth-based cultural and sports events, and initiatives but also will include the introduction of official dedicated twitter handle #CM4YOUTH by the next month.

Through this the youth can directly share their problems and issues with the CM  as well as to share innovative ideas and solutions for the issues faced by them, for the betterment of the state.

In his address CM Rawat, said, “The phrase ‘youth is our future’ is a much-abused  cliché meant to mouth platitudes eulogising our biggest and fastest growing constituency. I, however, believe that the youth is our present and if we really want to bring about any credible change in our society we need to actively engage with the youth and co-opt them into our dreams and vision for a better and more equitable Uttarakhand.”.

“Simultaneously, we cannot be dictatorial to them and lecture them on what they should eat, wear and do but engage with them in a manner and fashion that is acceptable to them - be one of them, be their respected friend.

#CM4YOUTH is one such platform that I feel will get me into a position of being that respected friend to them and help me co-opt them into working towards my vision of a better Uttarakhand,”

Rawat added.

The first programme under this initiative was a mentoring programme ‘Focused Tales Youth Conclave’ organised by the ‘Focused Tales Foundation’ where CM interacted with the youth of Dehradun as the chief mentor.
