Rawat undergoes medical check up at Doon Hospital

The chill factor in the weather has not spared the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat either, who underwent a medical check up and treatment at the Doon Hospital on Tuesday after he experienced pain in his neck and shoulders. The cold is reported to have brought out pain in his cervical injury sustained by Rawat during 2014. The CM was witnessed coming out of the hospital with a cervical neck supporter back on.

The Chief Minister arrived at the Doon Hospital at 9.45 am on Tuesday and underwent necessary treatment before coming out of the hospital at 11 pm. The chief medical superintendent in-charge of Doon hospital Dr KC Pant said that while the cold seemed to have stirred up pain in the Chief Minister’s old cervical injury, he was also complaining of stiffness and suffering from exhaustion due to his hectic activities. The doctor massaged the aching area of the chief minister’s neck and other necessary medial treatment was administered to him. After about an hour of treatment, the chief minister departed from the Doon hospital, added Pant. It will be recalled that the chief minister had sustained a serious cervical injury while in an aircraft during 2014 and had also been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi for treatment. He had also been prescribed rest, which is an important part of the recovery process in such injuries. However, after a brief rest, the chief minister has been working regularly with the run-up to and recent announcement of the Vidhan Sabha election 2017 heightening Rawat’s political activities and the resulting stress, especially on the old injury. It will be recalled here that following the cervical injury in 2014, the CM had worn the cervical support collar for a considerable period of time. After a gap of some time, the chief minister is back to wearing the cervical collar with the cold and stress of political activity and governance taking their toll.
