Rawat steps in to end stalemate between police, State admin

Published on:

During a programme held on Sunday at police line where Chief Minister Harish Rawat was the chief guest, Dehradun DIG/SSP Pushpak Jyoti announced that it was the first time in the history of Uttarakhand that CM himself was singing on Government paper (file), giving his seal to rectify irregularities in salaries (grade pay) of sub-inspectors and inspectors in the presence of the policemen.

Notably, CM had made such announcements earlier too. But surprisingly enough, the matter still keeps pending before the State administration. It seems irked over the State administration sitting over such announcements, citing resource crunch, CM   finally stepped in, asserting his authority to thaw the issue.   However, the observers feel CM could have managed things through the conventional ways across a meeting. “However, an astute politician adept in striking chords as he is, CM went for the announcement in a flamboyant style during a police programme,” said one of them.  However, things settled down courtesy the CM’s intervention.   Finally GO on this matter was released Sunday night. GO has increased grade pay of inspector from `4600 to `4800 and that of sub-inspector from `4200 to `4600, it is learnt.
