With the highway to Badrinath yet to be cleared for traffic, Chief Minister Harish Rawat visited the city on Monday and expressed satisfaction at the arrangements while directing officials to further improve them.
On reaching Badrinath by chopper, the CM, whose arrival to the city was delayed by a few hours due to snowing, said the National Highway 58 to Badrinath will be cleared by Tuesday.
Also, he directed officials to facilitate free community kitchen for pilgrims on the day of opening of the portals of the Char Dham shrines. Following which the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam will hold a free community kitchen for pilgrims at Gangotri and Yamunotri from April 20 to 21, at Kedarnath on April 23-24 and at Badrinath on April 25-26.
Besides, most arrangements, including telecommunications, power and water supply have been completed at Badrinath while the Border Roads Organisation is working to clear the highway blocked by boulder debris at Marwadi on Sunday.
