While paying obeisance at the lord seated in Adi Badri Dham and praying for peace and prosperity of the State on Monday, Chief minister Harish Rawat harped on development as the panacea to the ills the State has been heir to. “This is the solution that we need to reach to the people to have their lives transformed,” he said while addressing the people who had gathered on the concluding day of three- day Nautha Kauthig Mela held at Adi Badri sports ground. Making it clear that he would fall back on development to blunt the Opposition-triggered charges of corruption and the like, Rawat said that they would maintain the pace of development all through. “Development and more development is what we have to achieve to enable the people see better days. This is our mantra and we would chant it day in and day out,” he said.
He stressed on education, agriculture, animal husbandry and handicraft as instruments meant to ensure developmental transformation of the villages. “We must manufacture what we need to become self-sufficient,” he said. Affirming that education can help solve most of the problems the society faces, CM asked the parents to lay special emphasis on the education of their children. “We are all set to set up 600 model schools. We would ensure that no such school is bereft of the principal and the teachers. We would complete things by the end of 2017,” he said.
He appealed to the people to do farming. “The State Government will provide markets to the local produce. This year we are giving chaulai laddoo, which is local produce, in Badrinath temple as offering. More are in the offing as we are resolved to extend such things to the nook and corner of the State,” CM said. Making it a point to endear himself to the youths, particularly the unemployed, Rawat said that 30,000 youths will be recruited against the same number of vacant posts in the coming days. “We decided to create 10000-odd new jobs for TET passed youths and BPEd passed youths. These posts include those of the guest teachers too. We have decided to go ahead on this count during a recent cabinet meeting. We pledge to provide every youth with job. However, you must learn skills. This is how you would be in a position to create jobs for others instead of availing jobs being provided by the Government,” he said.
He did not forget to roll out promises to the women too. “We would impart training to the women to enable them to manufacture things locally consumed, in a more professional manner,” he said, adding that six dairy unions are running profitable, something that would help the State look up in terms of dairy produce.
He also announced branch of ITI, up-gradation of junior high school, appointment of SDM at Adi Badri and a mini- stadium at Mehalchauri. He further said that Nandasain inter college would be renamed after the freedom fighter Kripal Singh Khatri. He said that the construction of the secretariat building at Gairsain would be completed shortly. He asked Chamoli DM VInod Kumar Suman to send DPR for Adi Badri sports stadium.
