Rawat Govt is one man show, alleges Opp

Published on:

leader of Opposition in the State legislative Assembly Ajay Bhatt, has accused  the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat of running the State Government as a one man show, describing the much-awaited assigning of responsibilities to the Minister as a futile exercise.

He alleged that the Chief Minister kept his Cabinet colleagues jobless first for nearly a month and with model code conduct coming into force, again the Ministers would have no work for the next four months despite getting responsibilities. Allocation of portfolios by the Chief Minister  just a few hours before enforcement of the model code of the conduct, has only indicated that Chief Minister Rawat doesn't have confidence in the capability of his ministers, further said Bhatt during his Kumaon visit here on Wednesday.

More so, he went on saying that the matter of fact is that there is no major change in allocation of departments among the Ministers in the state. Therefore, our concern is that if the Chief Minister had to make only a minor changes in allocation of departments among his Cabinet colleagues, so why did he take so much time in assigning responsibilities to the ministers who remained jobless for a month or so, asked Bhatt.

Issuance of more than 2,000 GOs within a month without consultation with the ministers only shows that the Chief Minister does not have confidence in his minister, Bhatt added. Coming down heavily on the State Government, the leader of Opposition alleged that the Chief Minister has done nothing but announcements and laying of foundation stones  during the past one month or so.

The fate of  these public announcements and laying of foundation stones will be the same as that of the proposed legislative assembly building at Gairsain because there is no budgetary provisions for these developmental projects, Bhatt further said. Mere issuance of GOs will not work. The Chief Minister doesn't know from where the fund would come for these proposed developmental works. Therefore, these public announcements made by the Chief Ministers are nothing but an attempt to mislead the people of the state ahead of the elections, he allegedly said.
