While commenting on the announcement of the election schedule, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said that he was happy that the period of suspense had ended. “Prior to the announcement, I used to reach my people as their Chief Minister. But now with the model code of conduct being in force, I would reach them as a mere party campaigner. However, I am ready to go all-out, seeking blessings of the people so that we get the second term to serve my people,” he said.
While welcoming the announcement, the leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly and state BJP chief Ajay Bhatt said that the people of the state have heaved a sigh of relief having finally rid themselves of the reign of loot.
“We are sure that my party would form the next government to emancipate the people from the scam-tainted regime which has touched a new low in terms of corruption,” Bhatt said.
