Chief Minister Harish Rawat has expressed his gratitude to the people for their support on completion of three years in office by the State Government.
In his message on the occasion, Rawat has averred that the State Government had changed the vision of development and linked it to the people. Steps had been taken to facilitate inclusive development with public participation.
“Uttarakhand has achieved new dimensions in development since the State formation. At present our per capita income is considerably higher compared to that in some other Indian States. However, the biggest priority for us is to overcome regional problems and provide the benefit of development to all the citizens. The biggest achievement of the State Government is to restore the situation after the major damage wreaked by the June 2013 disaster,” the Chief Minister said.
The 2013 disaster had jolted the State’s economy with major efforts being made to recover from this. However, the present Government at the Centre has ignored our State in this year’s budget. The State has suffered a loss of about Rs 2,200 crore due to the closure of various Central schemes which will also affect the execution of the State’s schemes. I want to assure the people of Uttarakhand that in spite of the limited financial resources, I will not let the pace of development slow down. In its three years in office, the State Government has started various new schemes apart from initiating various programmes in public interest. We are committed to ensuring that the benefit of these schemes and programmes reaches the last remaining resident of Uttarakhand,” stated the CM in his message.
The schemes launched by the State Government include Mera Gaon-Meri Sadak Yojana to improve rural connectivity, Mera Gaon-Mera Dhan Yojana to provide investment opportunities to people in their village, new energy policy to make Gram Panchayats self reliant, sports policy to encourage sports and sportspersons in the State, chief minister health insurance scheme, pension schemes for various intended beneficiaries, Humara Pedh Humara Dhan scheme to encourage people to plant fodder species, Mere Buzurg Mere Teerth scheme for facilitating pilgrimage for senior citizens, Unnati programme for improving the academic quality in government schools and MSME policy for boosting investments in mountainous regions. The State Government has also made effort to make the administrational set up more effective.
The State has also made a concrete action plan to resolve the problems of the disaster affected and restore the pilgrimage to Kedarnath in addition to facilitating the required reconstruction and protection works there.  The State Government also claims to have undertaken various works in these three years for achieving the desired level of development in the spheres of power, sports, tourism, health and family welfare, social welfare, forests and environment, rain water harvesting, public works, food and civil supply, education, industry, women empowerment and child development, culture, minority welfare, soldier welfare, disaster management, horticulture and rural development. The State Government has initiated various schemes in most of these sectors to ensure the intended benefit to the people and investors.
