Former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat averred that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating works at Kedarnath which had already been inaugurated by the Congress Government in the past.
The senior Congress leader also lambasted the Bharatiya Janata Party Governments at the Centre and State, alleging that they had brought works in progress and other developmental works to a standstill in the State.
Addressing the media at the Congress Bhawan, Rawat said since the formation of the BJP Government in the State, little had been done in disaster affected Kedarnath other than the works already started and undertaken during the term of the Congress Government.
Stating that on October 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating works which have already inaugurated in the past at Kedarnath, Rawat said this ‘double engine Government’ of the BJP both at the Centre and State was making more noise but doing negligible work.
He also charged that since budgets had not been allocated to Public Works Department, Irrigation Department, Peyjal Nigam and other departments, many important works are getting stalled in the State.
About 30 to 35 per cent cuts have been made in the district plan too. Rawat further said there was a 19.5 per cent rise in revenue income during the tenure of the Congress Government but this was not the case since the BJP formed Government in Uttarakhand.
