Rawat accused of 'grave impropriety'

Echoing the BJP leaders' view, a former Chief Minister  and  leader of the Congress rebel camp comprising  nine MlAs,   Vijay Bahuguna said  on Friday that Harish Rawat had committed grave impropriety by occupying the chair of  the Chief  Minister in the immediate  aftermath of  the High Court's ruling, delivered on Thursday.

“This amounts to blatant disregard to the Constitution.  This happened even before the copy of the High Court order reached the Governor and the Chief Secretary  of  the State. This tearing hurry reveals the real Harish Rawat who loves to cling to power by any means,” he said.

Dwelling on the High Court's order, Rawat's arch rival who is himself a former  judge, said that  the scope of judicial review by the High Court is very limited.

"It does not sit as court of appeal. I am confident  that the Supreme Court will uphold the Presidential Proclamation. I welcome the Supreme Court staying the High Court order," Bahuguna said.
