The Ramky Company will start to dispose of over 1,000 metric tonnes of refuse derived fuel (RDF) daily from October. The RDF is generated in the Sheeshambada solid waste management and recycling plant. This was stated by the project head of the waste management plant, MA Saify.
According to him, the Ramky Company is currently disposing about 100 metric tonnes of RDF by sending it to different companies in other states. He said, “The RDF was already being sent to seven companies but we have also tied up with two more companies for the disposal of RDF. These two companies are situated in Delhi and Hyderabad and one more is still kept under consideration.”
For the past several months, thousands of metric tonnes of RDF has been generated in the Sheeshambada waste management plant where it has accumulated due to insufficient means of disposing it. Many people have even accused Ramky of burying the RDF in the ground but Saify has always refuted the claims.
Talking about the disposal of accumulated RDF in the plant, Saify stated that daily more than 1,000 metric tonnes of RDF will be disposed of by sending it to all the said companies.
Also, the disposal of RDF was quite less of the total generation but according to Saify, the disposal has increased in the last few weeks.
Talking about the disposal of compost in the plant, Saify said that about 20 metric tonnes of compost is generated in a day which is supplied to the enterprises like Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO) and to the local farmers as per the requirement so that they can use the compost for their agricultural practices.
On the question of the construction of the waste to energy plant by the management in Sheeshambada plant, Saify said that they have sent the proposal to the State Urban development department where the procedure is still under consideration.
