Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev announced that he will be observing International Yoga Day on June 21 at Har ki Paidi along with people from across the country and abroad. He also said that he will be going from house to house in the narrow lanes of Kankhal, Jwalapur inviting people to participate on the yoga day and making it a part of their lives.

He further said that five crore volunteers of Patanjali Yogpeeth will be organising Yoga classes across the country and that many new records will be set on International Yoga Day.  Ramdev said he would be writing to BJP leaders, Union Ministers and governor of Uttarakhand to participate in the Yoga day programme which will see a one kilometre stretch of the Ganga Ghat occupied by people doing Yoga Asanas from 5 AM to 8 AM.

To beat the scorching heat in the summer season Yoga guru Ramdev also advocated three Pranayams- Sheetali, Sheetkari and Anulom Vilom along with some home remedies.

He said that one must try to to keep diseases at bay with natural harmless ways and foods. He said Lauki (gourd) was the best remedy to beat heat. It also helps reduce fat, cure obesity and make diabetic patients non-diabetic.

If Lauki juice is consumed with mint, lemon juice and rock salt it can do wonders in beating heat stroke. Leaves of sheesham tree are also an effective cure for heat stroke.

Ramdev also encouraged people to turn to traditional ways of beating heat stroke like drinking Sattu, water kept in earthen pitcher and use of raw onion with meals.

Citing his own lifestyle he said he has been brought up on Sattu made up of gram flour and barley for 18 years when he did not take any cereal.

He said the companies which were selling carbonated drinks were actually damaging the cause of good health. One must return to vegetables and fruit juices to remain healthy, he stressed.
