On the last day of the three-day Rajpur Nature Film Festival hosted by Rajpur Community Initiative Society (RCI) in collaboration with CMS Vatavaran, films screened included ‘Just Wheels’ by Ashok Mundkur on public transport solutions, ‘Garbage Island/lost People’ by Amar Sharma and ‘Film on Organic Waste Converter’ by Khushboo Dua of Dehradun, ‘leave Nothing but Footprints’ by Sanjay Barnela on eco tourism and ‘Green Warriors of Chandi Fortress’ by Dr Gaurav Chabbra, a film which turned into the biggest environment campaign of Chandigarh in an effort to save a heritage pond.
Students of Moravian School, Doon International School- Riverside Campus, Seven Oaks School, The Doon School and Bajaj Institute of learning were present for the screenings. The students also participated in discussions following the screenings. The will of the students to preserve the natural beauty of Dehradun as well as the concern on the rapid concretization were apparent as students spoke passionately on the topics. The discussion centred on the need for society to become aware and raise their voice against such issues so that the political bigwigs were prevented from taking decisions that could harm the Doon Valley in any way.
On behalf of Dehradun Hub of Global Shapers Community, Richa of Alaya Studio and Harinder Yadav made a presentation on the Future of Dehradun in the face of social, economic and physical changes.
