The public had placed its trust in the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2014 parliamentary elections and following that the Central government headed by the party also discharged its duties. India is one of the fastest developing countries in the world.
The nation would overtake other developed nations to achieve a place among the top three economies of the world within a decade, said the Union Home minister Rajnath Singh while addressing a public gathering in Kotdwar on Monday. Singh addressed public rallies in various locations in the state while campaigning for BJP candidates.
Addressing the public, he also lambasted the Congress, stating that counting the bodies of terrorists is not the work of the army or government but a task for vultures. Further, Singh said that the proposed NYAY scheme of the Congress is a falsehood, while adding that the number of poor had drastically decreased during the tenure of the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
At Kotdwar in Pauri, the union minister said that the public will give a befitting reply to the Congress national president who is calling the prime minister a thief. In addition to homes provided to more than one crore people, the pace of roads being constructed in India is also among the fastest in the world.
Addressing a public gathering at Gopeshwar in Chamoli district, the Union Home minister said that not a single union minister had been tainted by corruption in the past five years.
The position of India and the respect accorded to it in the international sphere has also been enhanced in these five years, he said. Referring to Pakistan, he said that India would not fire the first bullet but if attacked, it would respond in a befitting manner. He also said that the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana being run by the State Government to provide universal health cover to all people in the State is benefitting the people greatly, specially the economically weaker sections. He further said that the construction of all-weather road and Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project would greatly benefit Uttarakhand and its people.
In Pithoragarh, Singh said that when the opposition was heading the government, it had failed to act effectively against terrorism.
Now when the armed forces attacked terrorists, killing them and destroying their set up in Pakistan, the Congress and entire opposition is asking for evidence.
Speaking about the achievements of the Central Government under Narendra Modi as the prime minister, Singh said that India is rising among the world economies and by 2028 would reach a position among the top three economies of the world.
Comparing the works done during 55 years of successive Congress governments with the works done under five years of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, he credited the prime minister for the major developments achieved in the past five years.
He also commended the state government for its performance, stating that chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had done in two years of his term so far what other chief ministers had been unable to achieve.
