The internal squabble in the teachers’ body Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh (RSS) have again came into fore with the district unit of Dehradun raising demand for removal of State general secretary SS Chauhan and the general secretary in turn declaring the recent elections for district unit of Dehradun as invalid.

The General Secretary of the organisation is clinging to the post even after his retirement in the month of March this year.

His continuing on the post created voices of dissent in the biggest organisation of government school lecturers and lecturer Teachers (lTs), the matter however was pushed below the carpet on the assurance that Chauhan would continue till the end of the term of working committee.

The divisions again resurfaced during the recent elections for the post of president of district committee of Dehradun when Narendra Singh Bisht was declared elected by a wafer thin margin of only two votes, his election was opposed by his rival Sohan Singh Negi who demanded a recounting of votes.

The plea of Negi was overruled by the returning officer S S Bisht. The state GS Chauhan took objection of election of Bisht and refused to acknowledge his victory.

The Garhwal unit of the RSS however came in support of Bisht and demanded immediate removal of Chauhan.

The District President of Dehradun N S Bisht said that Chauhan has no right to object the election which was conducted in the supervision of an authority designated by the organisation.

The President of RSS Karnel Singh said that a decision on the issue of S S Chauhan would be taken soon by the working committee.

He added that the decision of continuing Chauhan as General Secretary was taken unanimously by the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of the organization but if now the demand of his removal is raised the issue would be discussed.
