The State Government has decided to set up ‘Rajiv Gandhi Abhinav Avasiya Vidyalayas’ this year in the State to provide quality education to the children in most of the 13 backward blocks-one in each district. Such schools under ‘Rajiv Gandhi Abhinav Avasiya Vidyalaya’ will be set up in those Government-run primary or junior schools which are about to be closed due to shortage of students, said Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat after he presided over a meeting with chief secretary and senior officers of various departments over education, planning and agriculture on late Fridaynight.
CM Rawat said that the State Government is committed to provide quality education to all the children from the remotest and mountainous parts of the State. The Government is considering setting up some schools in public private partnership (PPP) mode in the remotest areas of the State and private operators would be provided free land, he added.
According to CM, one of the reasons of persons, including Government employees, migrating from rural to urban areas is lack of educational facilities. Keeping this in mind, our effort would be to set up schools ensuring quality education being provided there, he added. The Chief Minister directed the administrative officer to draft a policy facilitating private sectors for their investment in education sector apart from improving basic amenities in remotest areas of the state. Migration of persons from rural to urban can be checked if we can provide better education and health facilities there, he added.
Rawat directed the officers to work on this and added that he would again review the same after 15 days with the team. For the construction of buildings of schools and hospitals, the proposal involving private sectors would be implemented. local people would be encouraged to invest in these sectors, CM added.
