Rajeev Nagar locals protest against opening of liquor vend

Published on:

While protesting against the opening of a country made liquor (CMl) vend at Rajeev Nagar, the locals staged a stir   on Saturday, asking the State Government to have it shifted from the residential area.

The agitators accused that the liquor traders are opening their shops in the residential areas in the aftermath of the Supreme Court order to shut down liquor vends located within a radius of 500 metres of national and State highways.  They warned that they would intensify their protest unless the liquor shop is shut down with the area housing a  temple and a school.

Meanwhile,  Praveen Aggarwal, resident of Old Survey Road, who  is the owner of the CMl shop at Rajeev Nagar, registered a complaint at Nehru Colony police station, stating that he was being stopped from running the shop despite his having secured license from the department concerned. Acting on the compliant, a case under sections 147/323/504/506/427 of IPC was registered against unidentified persons in the Nehru Colony police

station.
