Raj Bhawan, which steers clear of media glare, had to intervene on Thursday, denying a report rolled out as breaking news over the electronic media regarding the appropriation Bill being approved by the Governor.
The media drove the Raj Bhawan in a pro-active mode, to go into a denial, saying through a release that the Governor had not approved the long-pending State budget.
It said it was wrong to roll out news sans its authentication from the right authorities. It is learnt that the Raj Bhawan received innumerable calls from the State Government as well as from Delhi.
In the Press note, Raj Bhawan denied the report outright, dubbing the news as wrong and misleading.
What the release said by way of clarification is that the Governor had just signed the budget proposal sent by the State Government to be tabled in the forthcoming Budget Session as part of a constitutional procedure.
