In the last two days, the supply of lPG cylinders has been adversely affected in disaster affected districts of Uttarakhand due to incessant rain causing landslides and disruption of road links, said IOC deputy manager (lPG Uttarakhand) Dhirendra Kumar while talking to The Pioneer on Tuesday.
Chamoli district food and civil supply officer MS Rana said that there is no supply of cooking gas in the district from the oil companies since Sunday due to disruption of traffic in the state. Department received several public complaints regarding short supply of cooking gas from the agencies. The aggrieved persons were told that they would be provided cooking gas after road blocks are cleared in the state. As of now, there is no lPG crisis in the district but condition might deteriorate if district does not receive cylinders in next two days or more from the oil companies.
Kumar said that due to traffic disruption on Char Dham Yatra route for the last three days, the lPG supply to the disaster affected districts has been adversely affected since Sunday. Due to road blocks, around five trucks carrying cylinders were stuck on the Yatra route. Kumar further said, “We are in touch with the district food and civil supply officers and asked them to provide alternative routes for supplying cooking gas to the affected regions.
There is no crisis as such right now and we would soon supply the cylinders through alternative routes to the affected districts. In view of increasing public complaints of irregular supply of cylinders by the agencies, we have set up a compliant cell in Dehradun. An official deputed there will be responsible for addressing complaints received from the aggrieved persons residing in different parts of state. Customers can register their complaint on the telephone number 0125-2759898 and their concerns will be readdressed,” he added.
Dehradun district food supply officer Shyam Arya said that there is no short supply of cooking gas in the district. People can register complains on toll free number 1800-258-2581 if they do not receive cooking gas from their agency within stipulated time. Complaints received in the department are relayed to the IOC officer apart from issuing notices to the agency concerned with instruction of improving delivery system soon, he added.
