The recently constructed roads in the capital city have started giving up before its stipulated time after experiencing thundershowers in Dehradun.

However, department officials ruled out use of sub-standard material while repairing the roads. The quality of the work could be easily gauged by the fact that a patch of the recently constructed road at Defence Colony was badly damaged and sunk after experiencing unexpected rainfall, a day ago.

After missing several deadlines, the nodal agency finally repaired roads which were excavated for laying the sewage pipelines across the capital city. The lack of coordination among the different Government agencies could be easily seen as the recently constructed roads are once again excavated by the nodal agencies.

Besides, recently constructed roads were damaged after thundershowers. It is to be noted that residents are facing problems due to poor condition of roads. Digging up of the roads at different areas to lay sewerage pipes has made the matter worst for the residents of the area.

Since roads have already been dug up for sewerage lines, they would get into shape after carpeting is done. Even residents also lamented about having tough time dealing with choked or overflowing sewerage. Residents also alleged about the use of inferior quality of raw materials while constructing roads but the department officials ruled out such possibility and claimed that stern instructions were already issued to nodal agencies to use best quality raw materials while repairing the roads.

Residents feared that roads that were constructed recently might be given way much before the stipulated time. One of the department sources who wished anonymity told The Pioneer completely ruled out the use of sub-standard material while constructing the roads across the capital city. He told that a probe would be ordered into this matter and guilty will not be spared. He assured that damaged roads would be repaired soon.
