The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast more rain and snow in the higher reaches of some districts of Uttarakhand on Tuesday. However, the climate would be mainly dry in the rest of the State on the day.

As per the Meteorological officers, the climate is likely to remain dry in Dehradun on Wednesday-the day Diwali would be celebrated-, though the mercury might dip further here on Tuesday and Wednesday.

As per the weather forecast issued on Monday, the sky would be clear to partly cloudy in the plain areas while it would rain and snow in some places in the districts like Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh on Tuesday.

There is a likelihood of thundershower in these places while mist would form in the plains of the State during the morning hours on the day.

In Dehradun, the climate would remain dry while mist might form in the morning hours on Tuesday.

As per the Met department forecast, the minimum temperature would further dip and settle in the neighbourhood of 11 degree Celsius.

The weather officers said that there is little likelihood of rain on Wednesday when the Diwali festival would be celebrated. Besides, the mercury is likely to dip further on the day. The minimum temperature settled at 12.4 degree Celsius, normal, while the maximum hovered around 27.2 degree Celsius, also normal, on the day.

On Tuesday, the minimum temperature recorded at Mukteshwar was 5.5 degree Celsius, one notch below the normal, while the maximum temperature settled at 15.4 degree Celsius-three notches below the normal. The minimum was 7 degree Celsius at New Tehri and the maximum was 17.4 degree Celsius, both normal.

As per the weather officers, another spell of western disturbance-triggered rain might lash the plains of the State, including Dehradun, on and from November 10.

They said that the aftermath of the rain would see the mercury to dip further.
