Rain, snow likely for three days

Published on:

The mercury across the State might take a dip as the weathermen forecast rain/snow for three days from Friday. While it would rain at some places both in the plains and the hills the high-altitude places might record snowfall as an impact of a fresh western disturbance that is approaching the western Himalayas. The wet spell expected to continue for three days from Friday, the mercury would fall down, said the Met officials.

Dehradun saw a clear sky turning cloudy as the day advanced on Thursday. The maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 27.1 degree Celsius, four notches above the normal, and 11.3 degree Celsius, three notches above the normal, respectively in the city  on the day. While the highest maximum temperature  of the state 28.9°C was recorded at Jaspur the  lowest minimum temperature 4.3°C  was recorded at Munsiyari.

Uttarakhand Meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said that following western disturbances, light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places while it might snow  at places with height 3500 metres and above on Friday and Saturday. Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts are likely to be significantly affected by the climate change. Things would clear by February 26, he added.

The weather forecast for Dehradun on Friday is generally cloudy sky with possibility of  thunder cloud development and rain in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 26 degree Celsius and 11 degree Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Friday.
