Rain is likely to lash a string of districts of Uttarakhand while Dehradun would have a dry climate on Saturday. However, after the climate cleared of the clouds, the minimum temperature has started to dip in Dehradun, adding to the winter chill.
As per the Regional Meteorological Centre officers, the maximum might go up a little while the minimum would come down by a couple of notches in the coming few days. Besides, they warned that ground frost is likely to occur in some parts of the hills over the next 24 hours.
The districts marked by the weather officers for rain are Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh. As per the forecast, light rain might occur in these districts and the higher reaches of the hills might get fresh bout of snow too on the day. The climate would remain dry in the rest of the State.
Meanwhile, Dehradun had a dry climate on Friday. The day was mostly sunny though partly windy. While the maximum temperature settled at 22.4 degree Celsius, one degree below the normal, the minimum was 6 degree Celsius, one degree below the normal, on Friday.
Elsewhere in the State, in Pantnagar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 22.4 degree Celsius, one notch below normal, and 4 degree Celsius, one notch below the normal, respectively on Friday.
At Mukteshwar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 9 degree Celsius, six notches below the normal, and-0.5 degree Celsius, four notches below the normal. In New Tehri, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 12.4 degree Celsius and 1.4 degree Celsius respectively on the day.
Notably, the maximum temperature had dipped by five notches in Dehradun on Thursday as an impact of the snowfall in the higher reaches and the rain/drizzle in the plains.
From now onwards, the trend would be of rising maximum and falling minimum temperatures unless western disturbances bring fresh bout of wet spell, said the Met officers.
