Rain likely in U'khand's higher ranges

The Uttarakhand meteorological centre has forecast the possibility of very light to light rain/snow at isolated places especially in higher altitude areas of the State on Tuesday and Wednesday. This would be followed by dry weather on Thursday, it has forecast.

In the coming days, the maximum temperature is expected to fall by a few degree Celsius across the State under the impact of the rainy/snowy spell in the higher mountainous areas, said an official.

The State meteorological centre director Bikram Singh attributes this to a fresh development of western disturbances that are forming at present.  As the gap between the maximum and minimum temperatures is likely to narrow down, the next couple of days could be colder.

The weather forecast for Dehradun on Tuesday is partly to generally cloudy sky with possibility of thunder cloud development at some places in the district. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 22ºC and 9 ºC, respectively, in Dehradun on Tuesday.

Singh further informed that the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 23.6ºC and 9.0ºC in Dehradun while it was 13.6ºC and 4.4ºC in Tehri, 9.6ºC and 2.9ºC in Mukteshwar and 27.0ºC and 6.0ºC in Pantnagar on Monday.

The meteorological centre has also forecast partly to generally cloudy sky. Very light to light rain/snow  is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarakhand on Friday.
