Even as the mercury is set to soar too soon following the onset of the summer, relief is in store with the Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre forecasting rain in the plains and snow in the upper reaches of Garhwal region on Sunday. Kumaon might experience the same in the coming days, the weatherman said.  The approaching western disturbances would bring shower/ snow in its wake, they added. The spell would continue till April 6. However, things were dry and warm in Dehradun on Saturday. The people sweated a great deal with the level of humidity rising in the atmosphere. The mercury surging to over 34 degree at the beginning of April is a warning of a grueling summer, the people say.

However, they are looking forward to rains to bring respite, though short-lived.
