In the ongoing political match in Uttarakhand, Jan Sangharsh Morcha head and former vice chairman of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam, Raghunath Singh Negi has lambasted the nine turncoat MlAs while citing documented record of alleged corruption and dubious actions of some of the nine turncoats including MlA and former Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna.
Negi has further questioned the past record of the media person who had carried out the sting operation on the then Chief Minister Harish Rawat. While the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central Government had taken serious cognisance of the sting operation film before recommending imposition of President’s rule in Uttarakhand, Negi, who is also a BJP leader has demanded that this film and those involved in its making should be investigated first.
Addressing the media as the Jan Sangharsh Morcha head here on Friday, Negi blamed the “rebels” and the “tainted” with past criminal record for the present scenario in Uttarakhand. Negi said,“Incredibly, the sting operation was conducted by a news channel head who had been booked in about a dozen cases in the past is now carrying out the sting on the directions of rebel MlA and former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna. This is because it was during Bahuguna’s tenure as chief minister that the cases ranging from alleged fraud, land grab and intimidation were withdrawn against the channel head.”
Referring to the nine turncoat MlAs, Negi said that at least four of them had been linked with various criminal cases in the past. He said, “Rudraprayag MlA and former cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat was alleged of involvement in case of land grab with fabricated documents while Roorkee MlA Pradeep Batra was accused of securing a forged llB degree.
The former Congress-led State Government under Vijay Bahuguna had withdrawn all these cases against the accused on the grounds of public benefit. Before investigation into the sting operation case, those involved in fraudulent actions and conducting of the sting operation should be investigated first.
The Jan Sangharsh Morcha now plans to approach the Raj Bhawan to request an inquiry into these fraudulent actions,” stressed Negi.
