The controversial member of the religious fraternity, Radhey Ma who had taken initiation from Juna Akhara during the Kumbh Mela 2010 in Haridwar has sparked yet another scene eliciting condemnation after she was allegedly found on the steps of Har Ki Pauri with slippers on instead of being barefoot. The priests took her to task for desecrating the holiness of the place revered by the Hindus of all streams.
Notably, Radhe Maa had reached Haridwar on Saturday morning. Her disciples said that she had gone to the house of one of them in Salempur village. From there, she went to Har Ki Pauri to perform Dugdh Abhishek (offering milk to the Mother Ganga) on the occasion of Sharad Purnima (full moon night)
Clad in red embroidered dress and wearing red slippers with golden laces, she reached Har ki Pauri at 2.30 am. It is said that her car entered the zero zone area of Har ki Pauri where entry of vehicles is prohibited. She had not allegedly cared to take off her slippers while offering milk to the Mother Ganga.
Speaking to The Pioneer, president of Yuva Teerth Purohit Mahasabha Ujjwal Pandit said, “No one can enter at Har Ki Pauri with shoes on as it is holy place of all the Hindus. Even President of India Pranab Mukherjee followed the rules on his recent visit here. Radhe Ma has hurt our sentiments. Besides, she danced with her followers, something that is contrary to the traditions.”
He further said that the priest community had asked the district administration about the permission given to Radhe Ma for taking her car right to Har Ki Pauri. “The priest community would not allow her to come again to Har Ki Pauri unless she apologises,” he warned.
