While addressing a press conference in Dehradun on Monday, Jan Sangharsh Morcha president and a former BJP member Raghunath Singh Negi alleged that Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat’s wife Sunita Rawat who is a Government teacher is holding in her possession plots of lands worth crores of rupees in violation of the Government norms. Negi said, “Wife of the Chief M0inister has purchased around three bigha land in 2010 and another plot in 2012 and both the plots are worth several crores as per their market value.
This constitutes a serious violation of the Uttar Pradesh Government Employee Conduct Rule 1956 which applies to the Government employees here”.
Taking pot shots at the CM, the social activist said that being an important politician of the State, Rawat must be well aware of the rules. “In case, his wife is ignorant of the rules he should have taken permission from the departments concerned or at least informed the officers concerened. However, he seemed to have forgotten his duty in his eagerness to invest the money he is supposed to have acquired from some shady deals in buying lands,” he said,
Ridiculing the zero tolerance on corruption rhetoric often flaunted by the CM, Negi said that he should have implemented the same in his own house before implementing it in the State.
“While his family members are on a land buying spree, giving the rules a short shrift he is indulging in the zero tolerance flippancy. Now, it is high time for him to inform in details the quantum of land being possessed by his wife. If he lacks the spunk he should stop stressing on zero tolerance,” he said.
He , further, said that they would apprise the Chief Secretary of the matter and their team would submit a memorandum to the Governor, demanding a thorough inquiry into the matter.
Among others present at the press conference included the secretary of the organisation Akash Panwar besides some members- Prabhakar Joshi, Bagesh Purohit and Praveen Sharma.
