Chief Minister Harish Rawat has regretted the fact that despite the State Education department paying hefty salaries to its employees, quality education is still elusive for the students of the State-run institutions.
"We are lagging behind the private institutions in this matter," he said, while speaking at Delhi Public School inauguration programme here on Tuesday. However, reiterating his Government's commitment to provide quality education to the children, Rawat announced that the State Government would open Rajiv Gandhi Abhinav School in each block of the state in two years.
This would prove instrumental in providing quality education to the students in remote and rural areas across the state, he said.
All these schools will be equipped with residential accommodation facilities to enable the students from the inaccessible and tough terrains of the state to remain fully focused on their study. They must adapt themselves to the fast-changing parameters of education to make marks in life, the CM said.
It is a sad fact that we are found wanting in meeting the aspirations of the people to have their children rightly educated so as to enable them to thrive in the competitive world. Hence, we are committed to ensure quality education for all the children of the state. We would do everything to have the vacant posts of the teachers in the schools located in the remote areas filled in no time.
The Chief Minister also sounded concerned over basic resources remaining scarce in the remote and hilly areas across the state.
He announced that the Government is planning to develop satellite towns in different parts of the stateand to equip them with basic resources.
Among others present on the occasion were MlA from Kaladhungi Assembly constituency Banshidhar Bhagat, Mayor of Haldwani Municipal Corporation Jogendra Rautela and chairman of the State Disaster Management Committee Prayag Bhatt.
