The Chief Education officer (CEO) of Dehradun S B Joshi has said that all private schools should register on the online portal for admissions under Right to Education (RTE). In a letter directed to all Principals of the schools, the CEO has said that they should register themselves on the website https://rte121c-ukd.in till April 7.

Under RTE 25 percent seats in all the private schools are kept reserved for the students belonging to the underprivileged sections of the society.

The private schools give admissions to the poor students under RTE in class and the government bears the cost of tuition fees of these students.

Under the act, the students of Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), non creamy layers of Other Backward Castes (OBCs), patients of leprosy and AIIDS should be the beneficiaries of reservations. The schools are bound to give admissions in these seats and in case the seats are not filled then these seats would remain vacant.
