The president of Gramin Vikas Committee Kaulagarh, Kunwar Singh, on Friday urged privates schools to spare little children from attending pre-primary classes and also said that general public should come forward against the ‘hegemony’ of private schools.
Speaking to media persons here Singh said that the owners of these schools are engaging in a open loot in the names of Play Group, Nursery and Kindergarten (KG). He said that the parents of the kids are forced to shell out their hard earned money for admissions in these classes which are an unnecessary burden on both kids and parents. Singh said that parents of the kids in Dehradun are reeling under the pressure of these schools that are minting money in name of donations and school development fund.
The President of the committee blamed the private schools for disrobing the childhood of the little kids as they are forced to carry heavy bags on their tiny shoulders. He pleaded that the little children should be spared from the burden of books and should be allowed to engage in outdoor activities like play. Singh said that the schools should give direct admissions in Class I and the government should impose a ban on pre-primary classes. He also demanded that the government should cancel the recognition of these schools.
He threatened to launch an agitation if the government fails to stop the commercialization of education and exploitation of children in the name of pre-primary classes. Singh said that Dehradun historically is known as the city to which Guru Dronacharya belonged so the sanctity of the city should be prevented.
