The president of Mahanagar City Bus Sewa Mahasangh has requested citizens to keep an option on standby as 90 per cent of their buses have been hired by Municipal Corporation of Dehradun, and the rest will not operate until 12:30 pm.

The president of the union, Vijay Vardhan Dandriyal, said, “We want to inform the people in advance so that they can make arrangements for themselves as majority of public transport buses will not be operating inside the city on Tuesday. Most of our buses have been hired by MCD to ferry school children and the rest won’t be permitted inside city limits till about 12:30 pm.”

Dehradun Superintendent of Police (traffic), Prakash Chandra Arya, said, “For about four hours, from 8 am to about 12 pm, all the Vikrams, TATA magics, autos and city buses will not be operating inside the city limits. Most of these commercial vehicles are the major cause of traffic congestion inside the city. Though the number of individual vehicles will increase, but they won’t stop in the middle of the road 10 times before reaching their destination.”

It is pertinent to mention here that a large number of Doon’s population is dependent on public transports to reach at their offices or colleges or schools. With the authorities stopping public transports to operate since 8 am, major chaotic traffic situation is likely to occur on Tuesday.
