Protests at MKP enter seventh day

To pressurise the college management to meet their demands, MKP (PG) College non-teaching staff union continued its protests on the seventh day on Tuesday. The members warned that they will forcibly shut down all the degree colleges in Dehradun on July 12, if their demands are not met soon.

The admission process in the college has been adversely affected as non-teaching staff have been boycotting their work in support of their demands including reinstatement of former MKP (PG) College principal Indu Singh, dissolution of the existing college management committee and release of their two month’s salaries.

The college non-teaching staff sat on demonstration in the college campus and raised  slogans against the college management and in support of their demands. The union president HS Rana said that a delegation of non-teaching staff met the Higher Education secretary on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum calling for redressal of their demands.

He claimed that their demands are being supported by non-teaching staff of different aided colleges. Seven days have passed and no action has been taken for redressal of their demands. The union has decided to intensify its protest if their demands are not met soon, he warned.
